Where’s the money!? Chicks? Eggs? Pullets?

We still have people posting the Ayam Cemani on my local FB groups, but I rarely see anyone bite. Personally, they aren't my cup of tea at all. Mostly I see people interested in Easter Eggers, BLRW, Lavender anything, and other "rare" colors. I really hope my Barred Rock chicks sell when I list them this weekend...

One would think it should be about good layers, but it's not. People really like "Easter" every week in their carton, so I have a variety of different layers. (Ok, not *my* regular customers so much, as they are neighbors and friends, and they get eggs from me because they know me, and adore my girls).

It's so trendy right now out here to have the rainbow in your carton, and since I plan on selling eggs this summer at the monthly farmers market, I added chicks that would eventually complement my carton color spectrum. I did this for me, as well. I was running out of eggs last year, especially in the fall/winter, and it's passive income. And I'm a chicken addict.

I save all manure for my own garden. Even with 6 hens, I never have enough for everything I grow.

I'd definitely get another Roo if he was mature and guaranteed sweet, non-human or kitty aggressive, with a quiet crow. Our last rooster became a holy terror. Just doing his job, but wow -- Quiet and sweet Roos? There's your money maker!!!
