where are the eggs hiding?

Our two older hens (5 months) just started laying eggs about a week or so ago. We had placed eggs in the nesting box a couple of weeks before that but they didn't seem to get the message and they picked a little hidden spot in the yard to lay. We didn't even know they were laying until my daughter found 9 eggs there! We took a couple of their eggs and put them in the nesting boxes thinking maybe they would get the hint this time...No luck. Now we haven't been able to find eggs anywhere for about three days. They aren't in the hiding spot or the nesting box.

It's like an Easter egg hunt every day around here. Any suggestions?

Shut them in the coop until all eggs are lalid for the day. After a few days of that, they should be in the habit of laying in the nesting boxes. If not, keep it up until it sinks into their dim little skulls.
