Where are you today?

I am breaking up and aerating my garden patch for my peas.

I have been turning the soil and mixing in old duck bedding.

It is still too cold to plant, but it sure feels good to get out in the sunshine and play in the dirt with little webfooted kids protecting me from monster worms by eating them up!

Now don't be like that, I'm trying to make the best of being laid off 6 months before tenure, in what's supposed to be the prime of my carrer.

I still wish I could be home.

My kid still wishes he could send me to work.

I don't need raised beds for gardening .... all I can grow is weeds, and they grow everywhere! I soooo wish I had a green thumb. I did buy the book, "Lasagna Gardening," and was inspired. The (so called) soil here is awful .... just clay. We have hauled in truckloads of dirt, just to have a front lawn. I give up.

I did enjoy our beautiful weather today though. I worked outside all day, working in getting my breeder pens finished. I did accomplish that task, except for 6 more pop doors to be put in (and more fencing). Tomorrow I will have help, and hopefully will get most of that done!

By the way, Angie, do you haul in dirt for the raised beds, or how do you do that?

We just tilled up a 20x100' space, and are only 1/8 of the way done with the garden.

Otherwise, I'm up late waiting for my eggs to pip. . .

I'm so happy for not having "work" but instead "working" at home.

These will be filled with material from my compost, Kathy. Maybe even some of the black gold from the pig pen will be mixed in. I will buy a few bags of peat moss and a truckload of mulch for my tomatoes.
