hey chickfever, if you ever want to order some chicks, i'd go in with you. i'm having the same problem with small orders and i live in VA (central)...

After March Cackle Hatchery ships 15. But according to multiple sources they alway mess up their order. i recomend IDEAL Poultry. they have a $25 minimum have a HUGE selection of breeds and they are actually cheaper than the other hatcheries that I have looked at.

Well i got 21 chicks from cackle last week plus some SR from tsc and 5 banties but we just fenced in half of are 2 acres and now we don't have enough I have got to have more lol thanks for reminding me about cackle I forgot they had a min of 15 because i ordered like 20

i think mypetchicken.com sells as few as 3-5 per order.

I think your best bet is ideal. They have lots of breeds, and the poeple are nice. Their birds have nice temperments (My little faverolle is the sweetest thing, my sussex girl is adorable, my langshan is shy, my cochin is crazy but friendly, and my EE is shy but friendly).

Shipping isnt through the roof, either. I got nine chicks for around 40$, all in all.
