Where can I buy chicks/ducklings solo or in pairs online?

I already have 6 chickens and two ducks and I'm looking to get just one more of each. Does anyone know where I can order poultry 1 or 2 at a time?

I think there are a couple of hatcheries (Meyer and Mypetchicken, I believe?) that ship in quantities of 3 or 5. But, if you're looking to just get one or two, your best bet will probably be a local breeder. You could look around on Craigslist to see if someone has what you're looking for. Or, better yet, you could go to the Where Am I? Where Are You? section, find your state and see if someone on BYC might have what you're looking for.

Good luck!

The hatcheries say they don't send them in ones or twos because of heat loss. Chicks have to be kept about 95 deg for the first few days, if there are only 1-2, they can't stay warm. 3 is a minimum at Meyer's, but you would be better off (if you have the room) to get a few more, same postage.

Why don't you look around for someone local who can help? I think if you are looking for just one of a specific breed you would have the best luck this way.

Also if you don't mind them being a little older, Murray mcmurray will send just 1 out at 4 weeks old.
I don't mind that at all! All my chicks are 5 weeks so that would be perfect. Thanks for the tip!
