i've got a rooster and a couple of hens that have pretty bad scaly leg, and i've read alot about cures and i really want to use ivermectin just to be safe and to kill any other parasites that might be on them, but where can i buy it?
thanks,

Most feed stores have it. It is for cattle and is called pour on ivermectin. It's blue. Per chicken you only need 4-6 drops on their backs at the base of the neck. Make sure it is on their skin and not feathers. More than a few drops will be fatal. I wouldn't apply it to the legs.

Until you can get the ivermectin and administer it you can coat the legs with petroleum jelly (vaseline). The dollar store stuff is good. What it will do is suffocate the mites.

Your coop is probably infested with mites also so it needs a good cleaning and a treatment with an insecticide.

so if i put it on there backs it will kill the mites on there legs? and should i just part the feathers and pour it on the skin? they are cochins so they are really fluffy. i put vaseline and tea tree oil on the roosters feet but now they look worse, and his feet are super tender.
maybe tea tree oil isn't the best thing??
thanks alot,
Colton

P.S. is there an organic/cheaper way to treat your coop after you clean it out, rather than say, Sevin?
