where can i find buff orpingtons?

I have several feed stores in my town that will order chicks of the variety you want as long as the hatchery they use carries the breed you want. They all have a minimum of 5 chicks for a special order. I did this a couple of years ago with Speckled Sussex and they ordered 25 total and didn't make me get the whole minimum of 5 so I could get a variety of breeds. So I recommend contacting your local feed stores!

If you have a specific hatchery in mind you wanted to use, ask what hatchery they get theirs from. Most will use 1 or 2 different ones, but there is one I know of that sells about 5,000 chicks per year uses 5 different hatcheries to fill their orders.

HI,

We jsut got our 15 BO'd 2 days ago from Crackles Hatchery. They arrived safe and sound and pricing was great. I would recommend them. They are out of MO so not that far. We are in WV and shipping was overnight at 19.99.

Just for your future information (WHEN - not IF you add to the flock

), I got my first chickens (RIRs) from mypetchicken.com as someone else mentioned. They do have a minimum of 3 (and I didn't want 25!) that they will deliver to you by Express Mail. I think, because I'm in a rural area, my minimum went to 5 if I remember right...I just rounded up to 6

The chicks were very healthy when they got here...LOUD of course, because they were hungry & thirsty! They all drank right away and found the food...I never had any issues with any of them. They're all fat and sassy almost-2-year olds now!!

So if you wanted them delivered, I can recommend MPC...they have a lot of great information there too. This time I chose to get my new babies from the local feed store because I didn't want to have chicks go through the mail system again; even though mine were fine, it just seems like it would stress them out terribly, and it was really hard on me worrying about them too.
