where can I get coturnix quail hens?

Yep- I currently have 1/2 inch and I am going to overlay 1/4 inch along the bottom to quail height. Somehow even the 1/2 inch seems like it leaves the friendly little guys vulnerable to my yard full of predators. Hope the 1/2 inch + 1/4 inch assures them some safety.

Here it is (complete with our gorgeouse 4 new gals)!!! One sheet of plywood (minus the side nesting box, doors and a few 1.5x's to tack it all together) 3 cuts and nothing left over. The floor is 3'x4' and it slopes from 3' to 1'. I was a bit concerned about too much height after reading about quail flying and breaking necks but my new gals are incredibly mellow. Tonights addition was 1/4 inch hardware mesh over the bottom 6" so racoons will have a harder time poking at the friendly featherballs. Their lack of interest in self preservation was confirmed by their alarming interest in the staple gun while i was installing the mesh... such amazing curiousity!

Might I make a suggestion? If you installed your wire mesh with staples raccoons would be able to pull that off very easily. I would go back over that and screw the wire mesh down with washers and screws. That will make it much more difficult for the 'coons to get to your birds. Just don't want to see you have any problems with your little cuties.

Will do- thnx for the advice! The 1/2 inch underneath the 1/4 inch does have reinforcing nails in it but I will toss some screws in the mix for some added security- LOTS of racoons in my yard, LOTS.

I need more quail but unfortunately Pet Source 1901 says that they don't have them anymore :( (one person I talked to said they will be hatching more the other said they hadn't carried them in over 6 months). So, do you know any other places where I can get them??? The ones I got there before were wonderful!!!

Oh, I should mention that I live in Los Angeles and would be really greatful if anyone knows where I can buy adult female coturnix quail. I was so greatful for the help finding my first quail and now really want more. Much thanks!!!!
