where can I get windows for the coop? Done pic's on page 3

We've had 3 windows given to us.
One we made out of plexiglass...............
*(plexiglass was 15 dollars for a glass supply store, prob cheaper to get it at Lowes)
and one for $35 from the Habitat store and one for a dollar from the Habitat store.
Guess it just who's pricing them, and also at the Habitat store here,
they have an outside here where there are a whole bunch of windows.

I'm cheap too. We're going the plexiglass route too. I wanted a window like you are describing and couldn't find anything, even Habit for Humanity. We have a pc of plexiglass that we're going to build a frame around and hinge to the coop over a hole in the front of the coop.

I did see a plexiglass today at homedepot but I forgot the size but did write it down somewhere but it was around $3.24 or something.
How can plexiglass be cut ?

Because the folks at Lowe's know me REALLY well - and I think that's a good thing, right?? - I have no trouble getting Plywood, board length, pipe or Plexiglas cut to the size I need. I think the policy is one free cut, and some nominal cents charge for additional cuts.

They use a special cutter. But you can get it cut there. So, measure twice, first!!

You know I never knew that. Thank you so much for the info

. Atleast it's cheaper then a normal window and less heavier. I will measure it 3x

Thank you

I got 12x12 windows at home depot for $29 dollars. I only used 1 of them and the others are cut outs on hinges so I can open in good weather and close in bad...covered in hardware cloth.

Thank you

The guys at my HD are so cute. I asked if they could cut some wood for me and when they found out what I was using it for they got excited and they would cut anything for me. They were more interested in all the toss outs I was collecting. That's when I told them I was making coops.

One of the guys in the area where they have PVC has helped me cut that too and I taught him how to put a feeder together. Guess he did great showing some customers, so he always says hi and smiles when he sees me.

Just really wanted to mention another idea for finds. Construction and Demolition sights. They get rid of lots of stuff.

OH and factories! How could I forget. They have dumpsters full of things they can't use. Think of something where plexiglass my be used for something.

Thank you everyone. All of you have given me great ideas. I went with plexiglass because it was the right size (no cutting needed) and it was light weight. I appriciate everyone's help
