I need to worm my hens but my local farm supply stores don't sell wormer for chickens at all. I looked at one site and they sold wormer that said not to give to laying hens.
Where do you get your wormer?

That thread really confused me haha.
So from what I understand to get rid of the worms the currently have I should give the piperazine? What is that and where do I get it?
Or I can use Pancure? I know I have used Pancure on my horses before, is this the same stuff, or do they sell a different concentration for poultry?
What is the egg withdrawl period for these wormers?
Is there a way to eliminate the worms without chemicals? Is the DE or Cheyanne pepper only for after chemical worming?
Im thoroughly confused!

I believe I read Ivemicin (sp) - the kind you just put on the outside of the chicken
it is for cattle but the type that goes on the outside says no meat withdrawal
I believe there is a thread here someone on the dosage
I used it and did not do any withdrawal and I'm still alive
you have to make sure you but the kind with no withdrawal

Food grade DE can be fed to your flock in feed or water, dusted on them thrown around in the coop, etc... It won't affect the eggs. What it does is slice the little parasites/worms and in return kills them...It is the best all around preventative for parasites etc. It can also be used on dogs/cats internally and externally for worms, ticks, fleas and as human consumption for internal parasite cleansing.

This is just my opinion, I'm not a vet or anything...But I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night... j/k

But I do really have a lot of faith in DE.

IMO, DE is good as a preventive measure only; not for a serious infestation of worms.
If you have a serious infestation of worms I would go with Ivermectin or Valbazen. Both sold as cattle and/or sheep wormers, so you'll be using them off label. From what I've read, valbazen (albendazole) is also used to treat humans with worms.
