Oh, me too, but sometimes I deserve more of a hard forehead smack than that!

I love ordering from Ideal Poultry. You only have to spend a minimum of $25 on chicks and shipping is less than $15 total (small box charges and such). My chicks have always arrived alive and active. They do add a bunch of male chicks for warmth if your order is small, but you can choose to pay insurance instead.

This last order (received Friday) they actually sent me 14 bantams instead of the 10 I ordered (don't know why, could be because I had to wait an extra week because they hatched short, or because I paid in advance and the price may have gone down a little). No complaint from me.

They don't have much available right now, but they have a HUGE variety (including ducks, geese, guineas, turkeys, pheasants, and chukars). They start hatching again in bulk in February.

If your local feed store is not a huge chain, you might ask if you can add onto an order with them. My local Grange orders from Ideal mostly. they order the popular breeds, but they'll let me add on my more unusual breeds if I'm doing a fairly small order. I feel more comfortable cause the chicks get shipped with a larger batch and keep warmer.

I have asked where they get their chicks from and it is almost across the United States. They might work though, thank you. :D
