Where did chickens come from?

Chickens don't seem to be in nature. Where did they come from?

They came from the jungles of Asia and the mountains of Chile.

Amazing how much variety we have now from that...

I bet they could fly, but they're mainly ground birds. A Google search for "Red Jungle Fowl" will turn up lots of pictures and information.
