I live in the desert. Dirt, Joshua trees, cacti. The desert. I was driving to work this morning and a DEER ran across the road. What???

Is it off season where you live? We used to joke in KY that the reason the deer "deaths by car" in Ohio increased in the fall is because it was deer season in KY!!

There are lots of deer in the foothills of the mountains. I've seen them in Pinon Hills, near Cajon Pass, etc. They eat lots of local sage, so unless you like the really gamey taste, they aren't worth eating.

Deer can do fine in the desert. There numbers are just lower because of food availability. They hunt them in the Mexican desert all the time.
