How is everyone winterizing their Metal chicken runs this winter ?

Hi! I use clear shower curtains, a mixture of staples and tape, and leave strategic gaps for ventilation.

I Haven't posted this year, had to start fresh my last flock was my first and couldn't keep them in their run or the yard a dog got them I got a new coop and run and started a new flock

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully the new flock is going well.

I have a mesh run and use clear polycarbonate roofing panels that I zip tie onto the outside walls. The panels overlap and do a good job of keeping out drafts and precipitation.

How is everyone winterizing their Metal chicken runs this winter ?

Where are you located? My interest is in what your winters look like. How cold, windy, or how much snow you can expect? Your location could help a lot with that.

What does your flock look like? Are they all mature? What breeds or types of chickens if they are not breeds. How many do you have?

What does your coop and run look like? How big, in feet or meters, is your coop? How big is your run? I'm interested in how much you need that run space in your winters. If your numbers are small enough and your coop big enough it may not be that important. If the room in your coop is tight then available run space could be very important.

Photos of your run could help a lot. Is it covered? What materials are you working with?

Some people do a lot to winterize the runs. Some of us do nothing because we don't have to.
