where did my hen GO?

ok so when i first stared my flock in march i got 12 day old chicks from tsc they all grow up nicely to be 6 months old but there is a dog down the road that jumps fences like its nothing he has gotten two hens i found dog prints and a big mile of feathers but i lock them up in the coop every night and last night i went to lock them up i have 10 chickens but know only 9 i always check and see if there all there i looked every where there are no signs of dog attack or any thing eals i looked around all over but nothing what could of happened to her she was a rir 7 months old

For what its worth most domestic dogs only play catch with the chickens that they kill. There is normally a lot of feathers laying around plus the "corpus delicti" of the unfortunate chicken is still present but in a rather ragged condition..

It maybe a bird of prey raccoons to a fox and even some feral cats i have them all.

There is not a hawk in North America that can fly away with a full size 7 month old RIR.

I have a missing hen, too. I scared off a fox that was chasing around the girls but one hen hasn't returned(though Foxy is still around looking for an easy meal) The not knowing really stinks. I read a story on here about a hen missing for over two weeks in winter then returned.. it's not unheard of. Hope we see our hens again soon!
