Where did you get your coop from?

That's a nice coop at a good price! He is in West Milford by the NY line. I told him to check with his zoning to make sure he can have chickens. He lives right across the road from about a 900 acre state park with LOTS of wildlife. So I told him he needs to research predators as well. He's had a couple coons show up and a black bear rip the doors off of his little shed that holds his garbage cans.

This sounds similar to what we are doing, converting a room in an old shack type building to be the chicken coop. How is the ventilation in your coop? I'm worried about getting enough "cross breeze" with only two exterior / exposed walls that we can put windows on, and obviously the rooms are perpendicular to each other since the room is in the corner of the building (South/East).

I bought two fantastic coops from http://www.jerseychickens.com . They are located in Central Jersey (near Great Adventure). Owners name is Bruce. He's a great guy and his prices are reasonable. He will work with you and make your coop any size you like. He has a variety of coops to choose from. Check out his website. I love both my coops. Here is a photo of a smaller coop I bought from him. It's called the "Henrietta" coop. I hung the American flag and added some decorations to it. See photo below. I also bought a larger coop that will house nine chickens. Both coops are really nice.

We got our coop and run from http://www.cumfypetsusa.com/ the site stinks but we are local and were able to go to their warehouse and check things out. They also have more available than what is on the site... ours isn't even on the site. If you email them they can send pics of coops that will suit your needs.

It is a good quality and all we needed to add was some caulking to seal the edges (as a precaution, it didn't leak) and are going to add a vent to the top and possible the back.

I have heard good things about these 2 places: http://www.wholesalechickencoops.com/chickencoop.html and http://www.greenchickencoop.com/Our_Coops.html
If you are considering building one their are a few plans in the book Raising Chickens for Dummies as well as many free sites with plans including BYC!
Some sites where you can purchase plans, such as this site which we considered: http://greenroofchickencoop.com/

Good Luck!

I got my chicken coop from Better Built Buildings. It said in the caption it can hold up to 12 chickens. I have six, five month old chickens and they look comfortable.
