Where do I find Pine Tar for feather pecking?

Feed stores should carry pine tar. We've used it to dress wounds for calf castration, so it has antiseptic properties.

I have used blu-kote myself. We have a huge problem with feather pecking. I have lost 3 hens this way. They were literally pecked to death. I spray my birds about 2 times a week, the whole flock except for 1 is purple! what an ornery looking lot I must say. In my opinion the blu-kote does not work for pecking. I have bald birds with purple beaks to prove this. Blu-kote is an antiseptic-protective wound dressing.(so they claim) germicide-fungicide. I have had bad luck with this product myself. I have thought about the peepers but you have to stick them up the chickens nostrils with pliers, not my cup of tea! Then there is debeaking which I feel is inhumane so I came up with my own remedy that seems to be working. I took an aggressive emery board,(like to file down fingernails) and filed the points off their beaks top and bottom. The responded pretty calmly to it and I believe it was painless for them as they did not struggle or show any discomfort. So far so good starting to see pin feathers again. It is however a 2 man job and wear gloves as they do bite at first, until they realize it does not hurt.

I use hydrogen peroxide (HO2), blu-kote, and petroleum jelly once there is no broken skin.

The most effective approach for me has been to isolate the lowly hen-pecked chickens inside the coop, and here i use a cat carrier with straw and a separate water ans feeder, until she is healed.

Pine tar, feed stores, tack stores, tractor supply, and you may want to try ichthamol. Its like tar, and smells awful, and sticks good. It stopped my feather puller. It's an old time remedy like epsom salts, but it stops feather pickers in their tracks.

Just curious the Rawlings Pine tar that is for "a better grip" comes in a small can for about $5 and has a brush on the cap. Is this the same stuff?

I would not use it. It's horrible sticky, gonna cause problems for feathers and warmth, lord knows how long to wear off. If the bird ingests it, which is likely from preening, it's not good for the bird.
There are better solutions for feather picking. IDing possible reasons for it would be first. Over crowding and boredom are the most common causes of feather picking.

I have them on, they have started pecking with them on. I've tried a lot of things!
