where do roosters go?

Just wondering if there is a 50/50 chance that an egg will be a rooster and most people keep hens for eggs and for eating... Where do all roosters end up?

Yep - stew pots mostly. The hatcheries kill a lot of their male chicks because they are essentially worthless and a lot more people order females than males.

Some are used to make littlie ones and other are for the stew pot.

Around here they become stewing chickens which we either sell or eat ourselves. They're fabulous in Brunswick Stew or Coq Au Vin.

A few of the better ones live to become breeding stock.
