Where do you buy flocker raiser - or any non-medicated grower feed?

catdaddy, The tsc in Conroe says their flockraiser is just $11.49 for a 50 lb bag, so i'm o.k. with the price. Surprisingly, i haven't even seen the Lone Star brand in the feed stores near me. I will keep that in mind in the future.

Crunchie, i think one of the stores mentioned the game bird grower, but i didn't know if that would be o.k. for my chickens. Thanks for the heads up. I'll find out how much it costs.

Steve, i have found a location to buy the flock raiser, but how do i know whether it's medicated or not? Is that not on the bag? Thanks for going out in the cold for me.

michi, i would love to have to ask for medicated starter. There are a couple of places, i found out after i did a LOT of calling, that sell unmedicated starter - and one place that doesn't sell anything medicated, but all of those are out of the way AND more expensive. I'm hoping to find a balance.

The plan is in two weeks to start them on either the flock raiser or the game bird grower. That will be in time to get the freezer camp-bound boys on unmedicated feed for at least two weeks before camp

It will say on the bag if it is medicated. It will also say it on the tag attached to the bag. The ingredients will list Amprolium, so look for that. Most places ( at least where I'm located) don't sell the medicated. So, if it doesn't say medicated on the bag, or on the tag attched, then you have the unmedicated. I'm not sure if it's regional, but I have never seen anyone near me even carry the medicated version of flockraiser. I'm not sure if TSC carries it, as the TSC near us is actually more expensive then our local feed store.

I was going to feed game bird feed to my birds at one point due to the higher protein, but when I went to pick it up, I read on the tag that it had preservatives in it, so I nixed that idea.

I use the 22% gamebird too and just put out oyster shell free choice for the layers calcium needs. It works great, no soft shells and the oyster shell is inexpensive (unlike the gamebird feed

) and lasts for ages.

The Starter at Tractor supply is nonmedicated at least it's not on the tag thats what i started my ducks on.

Stupid question....What is Flock Raiser? Is it like the All Stock they have at TSC?
