Now that we're moving to a new house with a lot more space I have it in my head to build a cabinet incubator! Problem is, I don't reeeeaaaally want it in my house. I'd rather put it in my garage or in the tackroom of my barn. Would that work or would temperature swings cause an issue? Where do you keep your giant cabinet or refridgerator incubators? If they're not in your house, what problems have you run into with the location?

If it's somewhere you don't frequent, not sure you can intervene if anything bad happens 'til it's too late. My garage is cold and dark, couldn't imagine hatching there. Would use more energy too as the incubator is going to run constantly in the cold. Also if you want to candle, that's going to be a cold blast on the eggs when you open it. Temp. in a place like that might waiver more too vs. indoor - at least here - 25 degree difference between night/day. But could be done of course. I keep my reptipro in the kitchen so I don't hear it at night. It is loud. I like that I have my eye on it all the time.

.................. in my basement by the chick brooder. I visit them both several times a day.

I would LOVE to install it in my kitchen or living room but I don't think my boyfriend would really appreciate me incubating 100 or 200 eggs in the middle of our living space

Frankly if I make it, it probably won't be that pretty either so I probably don't want to look at a giant old fridge or big plywood box either. The little wine fridge in the living room is about as much as I'm cool with decor wise

Basement would be awesome, unfortuantely our new house doesn't have one... My boyfriend will be insulating and drywalling the garage though so I'm wondering if that would be a suitable place for spring/summer incubating (I probably won't hatch in any large numbers in winter).
