Just wondering what all of you do with your chicken/work boots when you come in from making the rounds in the coop?
I will mention that I grew up on a farm and had a "mud room" at the back door perfect for the job, but in my current home have no such luxury. Our coop is inside another building and large enough we will have to be walking in to feed/water the chickens on a regular basis... Plus my nine year old son is enjoying getting in the run and hand feeding them. I am considering storing our boots inside the door of the little barn and changing shoes/boots there, but winter time could prove that a bit cold. I can see the advantage of a smaller coop where you don't need to get into it to care for them.
We have a deck outside the back door, but no shelter there to keep the boots dry and it would be difficult in the rain and snow, thinking cold/wet feet/shoes would likely happen. I'm also not too excited about the poop being carried on our boots up onto the deck.
Part of me is thinking I should have gone the cheap route and got garden shoes or fake crocs to slip on just inside the barn door. That would be x3 then for the rest of the family.
