Where is the best place to buy fertile, hatching eggs?

We want to know the cheapest place to buy them including shipping (online or a store). The most we would want is 1 dozen. Anyone know of a place or a website? Thanks in advance

I bought my first batch on ebay, dont know that I would do it again, was disappointed how many broke in shipping, received 14, 4 broken, and then another broke shortly after arrival...I bought another batch (1doz) locally... I have seen here at BYC.com that some people here have auctions...check it out in the index

In this heat i would stay local~
maybe craigslist or local breeders

Cheep isn't always best
RIR's, Barred rocks, black stars, sex links, ee's should be a few

There are several threads on here about hatching store eggs - I am incubating some now. They were 2.53/doz -- they said "free range" and "our hens live naturally and do all the normal chicken things". I figured that included hanging out with a roo. The first egg I broke showed a blastocyst (bullseye) that meant it was fertilized -- So, if you just want to experiment, that's DEFINITELY the cheapest.

For my last hatch, I got some eggs free from a friend. They were mutts - a Buff Orpington rooster over several different breeds of laying hens. I have 15 beautiful, 9 week old babies: 11 pullets and only 4 roos!

Now I would like some Easter Eggers. I looked online for some mail-order eggs, but I was really worried about the heat. So I decided to try Craigslist. About 4 or 5 days after I posted my "wanted" ad, I got a response from someone who knew a lady with exactly what I wanted who lives right down the road from me! And she only wants 6 dollars for 14 eggs!

What a blessing! She is collecting them for me now.
