I've lost two hens months apart.
They were both year old Favorellas from Ideal Hatchery.
Each acted broody days prior to their death (staying on a nest box for most of the day, not wanting to leave the coop).
Neither showed obvious signs of illness, they ate and drank like normal.
I found both of them dead on an empty nest, no eggs/shells in sight.
