Where they lay there eggs

Ok, so left the Chickens locked in their coop/run today as I was gone most of the day, went back at 4pm to gather eggs and let them out to free range the property for a few hours and there was one egg only and in a differant nest, by passed the nest with the fake eggs competely.. 10 Hens and 1 egg...no molting, 6-8 eggs for ever and then dropped to 4-5 eggs this week and then 1 today

Crazy chickens

Nothing has changed exept putting the chicks out beside them Sunday.. they dont appear to have any issues other that the weather shift...oh well, I guess I have been spoiled with exellent egg layers for along time, this shall pass (hopefully) and they get back to normal.

Ok, so I read that and at one time we did have a mouse problem out there, our coop set up sounds alot like yours, wood floor and all... Last summer Hubby was able to trap around 20+ mice, I have seen them here and there but not in great numbers since then...I think tho they are kinda like roaches, where you see one there are ten more you arent seeing.. I HATE mice, cant even handle seeing them and would probably have a heart attack lol...

I'll go out today and really look at there feeding station to see if there are droppings, if there is we will have to figure out how and where to set traps, we now have the chicks set up next to the hens so we would have to really consider putting traps where the chicks cant get ahold of them

i am terrified of mice yet i can kill a 10 ft. snake that went after my kitten when it was very little. after they were half drown i went after some of them with a stick. it was pretty good therapy. all that keeps running through my head is bubonic plague. hahha

Once again, I'm the same way, snakes don't bother me.

I went and did a really good check and canot see any evidence of mice, no dropping in or around the feeding station, I know my husband said he thought the mice had migrated out to the burn pile cause thats where we throw everything the chicken wont eat right away or fully ( like corncobs etc) our burn pile is pretty big as we havent been able to do our seasonal burn yet and its on a large dirt mound, about 120 ft from the chicken coop... anyways, gathered 6 eggs today so I guess I'm not going to worry to much.

strikes over! you know, thats a good idea. i will start a pile of garbage and wait a few days then burn those little suckers. thanks
