Where To Buy 6 foot welded wire?

In a whole lot of regions, you are only going to get it by special order. Ask around -- feed store, hardware store, TSC, Home Depot, whatever. Some will turn out not to do special-orders at all; some will do special orders but have no regular suppliers offering the kind of roll of wire you want; but chances are good you will hit on SOMEwhere that can get you more or less what you want. You will of course have to order a full roll (or more).

There are also online places you can order it, but the freight (shipping/handling) is a killer.

Alternatively you can use twice as much 3' wire, and attach it with a horizontal seam halfway up the fence, either by 'sewing' togehter with steel electric-fence wire or by running a 2x4 or 2x6 along the fence there and securing both edges of the fencing to that.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

When I priced it at Lowe's, it was $200+ for 6'x100', my farm store had the same stuff for $97, so definitely shop around.

I'm actually going with two 4' rolls, I will *sew* them together and use the extra 2' of height to form an apron. To sew it, I'm going to use a the galvanzied electric fencing wire, cheaper than the PT boards ($15 for 1/4 mile spool), easy to work with and lasts forever!

Small galvanized metal clips are availabe for just this purpose. You will find them easier to use and with a more satisfactory end result than lacing with wire.

I ordered mine from a Ace Hardware. I wante 1x2 14 Ga. galvanized, and our local TSC didnt stock, or was able to get the 1x2 in 14 ga. I got 100 ft of both 5 ft and 6 ft. worked great, and they had better prices then I could find online. Call em..........

The items on the left are "C" rings. There are two different size rings. The smaller is for two or three strands of 16ga wire and the larger will accomodate four strands.

On the right are "J" clips or ferrules and the pliers that apply them.

We sell the clips and rings for about $2 a pound (700+ pcs of the small rings per pound) The pliers are $20 a unit but these are big heavey use them all day on huge buildings in industrial ag or simular settings. More than you probably need. I have seen light duty pliers at TSC, poultry supply, and rabbit equipment dealers that might do the job you need done for a lesser price.

J clips are stronger and more difficult to apply.

I think I have seen j clips at TSC.

Thanks for the picture! Now I know just what I need. But my DH won't let me go to TSC until chick days are over.........
