I was researching how good DE is for the coop but can't seem to find it anywhere.

Many people have to order it online; I've never seen it in a store. But there are certainly two sides to that story: it's highly irritating to respiratory tracts, yours or the chickens, and doesn't do much but serve as a drying agent. I have a big bag I bought years ago for the garden that I never use -- it does kill worm type pests on plants, like tomato worms -- but it won't kill worms inside your chickens, or reduce odors.

If you want something to dry the litter, you can buy products like StallDri intended for horses, or just use pelletized lime in small quantities, which also helps with odors.
