Where to buy large Dog Kennels?

Thats so funny, I was just looking at yourfencestore! Yeah, I was looking at that 20' long one, but it would make more sense to buy two separate 10x10s. So that one is individual panels secured together? http://www.yourfencestore.com/dogs/kennel10x10x6-f.asp I can't tell.

Also a neat idea because you can buy another panel as you can afford to if you can't swing the full amount to expand it right away. Like if you have chicks growing, just buy the 4 panels to make the first run. Each month, add another panel. Spreads the cost around.

Thats a good idea! I think I'll do that actually.

Mine came from guardian fence co. heavy duty and smaller mesh for german sheperd kennel that they could not get their feet nor muzzles through that I now use for the chickens.

I bought one off of craigslist.org for pretty cheap. Then if you need to make it larger, you can buy extra panels at home depot or more on craigslist.

I have bought all of my kennels (3) from CL & didnt spend more than $75 for the biggest one (12 x 8). You just have to be persistent & vigilant.

If I don't get any off craigslist I'll probably be buying from yourfencestore. Does anyone know if any of them sold there are the individual panels? I would like to buy this http://www.yourfencestore.com/dogs/kennel10.asp one at some point, probably. I'd think that one is the panel one because its sold as two 10 x 10 x 6 kennels?

Also, how do you guys do your roofs? Do you use hardware cloth, and how do you make sure there isn't any sagging in the middle? A PVC pipe frame?
I know hardware cloth should be used on the sides to prevent raccoons from grabbing birds, do you use zipties to secure the hardware cloth?

I don't believe yourfencestore sells these as panels.

We attached 36" hardware cloth along the sides with zip ties.

This is how we covered our dog kennel. I originally purchased the 7 by 12 foot kennel but, since we were going to attach the run the coop, did not see the need for wasting the chain link fencing across this area. Instead, I purchased additional pipe (through our local Lowes); we cut it and used to it extend the run to almost 16 feet in length.

We used 3/4 inch PVC pipe (cut to 7.5 foot lengths and held in place with brace rail clamps, found in the fencing section of Lowes), placed at 3 feet intervals, then covering each section with 36" wide hardware cloth held in place with zip ties. It wasn't too difficult to do with two people "working" each side of the pipe to make certain the hardware cloth remained on the pipe, and did the overlap a bit over the previous wire.

I hope this makes sense:

FWIW, I was able to get 2 10x10 panel-based kennels at Lowes for under $600. I think they were $280 each or somesuch? This allows you to build either a 20x20, or a 30x10... or a big octagon for that matter

I would NOT however recommend these dog kennels for dogs... Our little dog managed to peel back the chain link or unweave it on several of the panels, so I have all kinds of random reinforcements on my kennel now... it looks so very ghetto. I contemplated getting a roll of 2x4welded wire and zip-tying it all the way around the base, but haven't gone quite that far yet (he started digging instead *grumble*). I did exactly this (only with 1x2 wire) on the door of the kennel, but at the time i didn't have the spare $100 to buy a whole roll and do the whole kennel

I suspect it would work fine for a chicken run though, especially if you are lining it with hardware cloth around the base anyways.
