Where is the best place to get chicks? I am wanting Red Star layers. I am getting so frustrated!! LOL HELP! I found a site a few months ago that had them and gave them the shot of whatever it's called now (chalk that up to brain fart) started with an M I believe. But now I can't find it. Please and thank you!

I think the shot is for Marek's? Marek's vaccine? I ordered my chicks (Jersey Giants) with the vaccine as well-- sorry dont know anything about Red Stars though--

Most all hatcheries have red sex-link chicks available. They come up with various names for them (Red Stars, Cinnamon Queens, etc) but they will all be sex-inks. Any of them should be good layers.

My preferred supplier is Townline Hatchery in Michigan. They have the ISA Brown sex-links. Excellent layers and fairly laid back dispositions. You can have them vaccinated against Mareks for about fifteen cents a chick.

so the red star is the same breed as a red sex-link? We will def. need docile personalities with as many kids as we have. Thank you guys for all of your help so far.

If you want red sex links go to www.townlinehatchery.com and order Isa Browns. They are the best of the best.330 eggs a year and large dark brown eggs. The amish only buy them. That has to tell you somrthing.
