where to feed dilema

Hello and good morning fellow chickeneers'

A bit confused about where to feed over here.
I think I'm gonna keep water and food inside coop for the first week of them sleeping outside, just to get them used to their new house; but eventually I'm gonna only feed them out in their run to avoid too much mess where they sleep.
I don't think there will be any rodents getting to their food, there are too many cats in the neighborhood. And the food can be in the covered part of the run.
Does it sound like a good plan?

I'd be concerned about blowing rain getting the feed wet.

Maybe it will work fine for you, then. More power to you. Keeps the mice out! Unfortunately, would not work in this climate. Oh, well.
