Where to find a chicken processor?

Thanks, everyone!

I could probably do it now had not all of my first batch of chickens had names and been held so much. The second batch is certainly not as friendly (purchased in another place) and we tried to socialize them and it hasn't worked so well. SO... I don't think I could eat anyone from the first batch. The second batch - perhaps. I know it seems silly.

We intended on keeping these birds for their eggs.... but the more I think about it - the more I think raising and processing your own chickens is much better than buying them from the store. If you're going to eat chicken - why not healthy chicken that is not around disease or junky food?

Besides - I think people have gone too far from where we started. If we had to process our own animals - perhaps we'd have more respect for food.

I've killed/gutted fish, so hopefully I could do a chicken. A goat or a pig - not so much. I'm going to wait until my second batch is large enough and then perhaps I'll pick one of those birds for my first. Most of our chickens are "dual purpose."

I've been looking around for meat chickens and figured that I wouldn't mind a cornish cross group to raise strictly for such.

Its not that hard, I taught myself out of a book "chickens in your back yard" had it open on the table the very first time I butchered chickens, just thought I'd chime in....
