Where to find buyers

I am happy to say I sold one of my older lavender orp chicks today! I made an ad on Craigslist using the tips you all have given me and I got 2 people asking just today! The buyer is coming to pick him up tomorrow! Here is a picture of the ad I made.

What is the best way to find people to buy your chicks? I want to get into breeding. The last time I hatched I waited until after they hatched to find buyers. No one bought them:hmm
There are always pullets and chicks for sale on Craigslist in Phoenix. That’s where I first look when I’m buying, and that’s where I’d post a for-sale listing. Include pictures.

Check to see if KY has an agricultural newspaper. MS has the MS Market Bulletin. It comes out twice a month. Anything to sell agricultural is in there. It’s where I found my first chickens. Anytime I see some in my area and call, they sell out quickly. KY may not have such a thing but I’d give it a look.

I would also offer hatching eggs! Just a thought (just offering the thought process of some serious poultry buyers,) hatching eggs are a great way to help avoid/reduce disease in flocks. It’s not that a person assumes they are not purchasing healthy birds, but it just clears their mind, no worries about quarantine for chicks or adults before adding them to your flock. It’s a great option!! (I actually prefer hatching eggs over chicks.)

I like your new choice of breed (and the reasons you gave for wanting to breed that breed) and LOVE that you were able to sell your boy!

I’ve been out of school for about 2 months, so I haven’t really been able to talk to people. I will get in contact with my teachers and tell them to contact me if anyone is interested in chicks. What are some breeds that most people are interested in? I have 7 lavender Orpington hens that I bred last time.

English Orpingtons or American? I have been looking for English Orps blue or lab for some time. I’m looking for hatching eggs...

I only buy chicks that have been sexed or are a sex-linked breed so I don't end up with a bunch of roosters. That's something that would make me hesitant to buy chicks from an independent seller.

Maybe try a professional looking post with lots of pics and info on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace and other social media platforms asking for a buyer to reserve chicks.
I have a neighbor who raises her chicks for 5 months and then sells them for about $35. She has no trouble selling them as there are a people who want to start keeping a few chickens, but don't want the hassle of baby chicks
