Where to find scrap materials

Trying to build a chicken coop (5-9 hens) and I was wondering if anybody (mainly near me) knew places to get scrap materials. Trying to keep coop (and hopefully run) under $1000

I would look on craigslist and FB marketplace. You could also do an ISO on either or both of them.

Used pallets can be a good source of wood. Where I used to work, we saved some that were a size that we would use again, but the rest were put out for the Pallet Scavengers. Unless they were in really bad shape, they disappeared.

Get the word out to neighbors and friends too. Our neighbor was GLAD to get rid of a metal pipe frame for a green house that was left from the former owner. It's the frame of my run now.

Cattle panel hoop coops are pretty cheap for chicken runs.

look for chain link dog kennels on Craigslist and FB.

I’ve seen some really neat coops made out of cheap wood picket fence.

Building sites often have a scrap wood pile. I know that because I'm often on site.
Also skip bins in people's drives are a goldmine for decent timber.
