this has been very frustrating. There seems to be nowhere online that offers chicken grit (before you ask, Tractor Supply only offers grit for the states). No feed stores near me offer it either (not to mention the nearest feed store is an hour away). Sand apparently isn’t coarse enough. And I can’t seem to find a consensus on what’s I can buy from Home Depot or similar stores to act as grit. Please enlighten me if you can - my 8-week old chicks are started on grass and can’t seem to digest it well.

Look for aquarium gravel if you can't find grit. Also, most craft stores sell bags of small stones for whatever it is folks use them for in their crafting.

I think his yard is covered with snow.
Your search for grit will be less important when the snow melts if your birds are free range.
You can use the time between now and next winter to stock up on grit.

As far as cost, keep in mind that a 50 lb. bag of grit is only about twice the cost of a 3 lb. bag.
Same math holds true for oyster shell.

Do you have gravel in your yard? Start by giving them a shovel of that. They will pick through it and eat the little tiny bits that are in there. What about Amazon? They have grit, do they ship to you?
Yes but 20 dollars for only 1.3 kg of grit. How much do they need
