Where to get wide hardware cloth?

Hi, I'm working to build my first chicken coop. There are some screen grabs out of autocad at the bottom of this post for those interested.

The issue I have is that there are two openings in the run that are 72"x72" and 72"x80" respectively. I kinda assumed I could get 72" wide hardware cloth, but I've been unable to find it. If needed, I can break up those gaps into smaller areas, but I'd rather not.

Do you happen to have any suggestions on where I could either find this wide hardware cloth or, perhaps, a different material I could use?

(Update, I had used the img tag here, but for some reason the images aren't showing up so here are links to the images instead.)

If you are willing to buy a whole 50' roll, you can get hardware cloth (and other sizes of welded wire mesh) up to 6' wide by special-order.... talk to the people behind the desk at your local farm/feed store, hardwarestore, or even the contractor desk at Home Depot type outfits. Not everyone will be willing/able to special order it for you, but SOMEone probably can.

Otherwise you will have to either sew together the edges of two 3' pieces (very carefuly and securely, using galvanized steel electric-fence wire, or a whole lot of J-clips) or run a wooden crosspiece to back up the seam.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

I am assuming that you are planning on doing the run portion with the cloth? I don't think you can get it that wide but you could put strips of the cloth up and "sew" them together with wire or zip ties. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the tips! I'm a bit picky about appearances, so I don't really want to sew sheets together. I will try at a hardware and feed store to see if I can't special order what I'm looking for. I also found a supplier online, but they look like they supply to companies, not individuals. If worse comes to worse, I'll split those large openings up with cross members.

Oh, and yes, that's for the run, not for the actual coop area.

Thanks again!
