Where to keep their food and water

I tried it both ways as well and now I have food outside and water system both in and out, but getting ready to cap off inside one. It drips when they are drinking, (and probably all the time) making a mess in the coop, and I don't want it to get moldy in there. In winter I have a hanging heated bucket with nipples waters outside they didn't have water in coop at all, so I know they will be just fine, My run is covered though,

hello,
i think you should keep the food and water in the coop if the are locked up at night or when you first buy them they need to be kept in so bring food especially water in.
if the food and water doesn't fit place them in a container

I have the same question... I have a very small hen house and it sits in an area of my yard fenced off for the chickens, which is their run. The water and food are outside right now, in five gallon auto feeders. Those will not fit in the house. Come winter, what do I do??? I could put little feeders and waterers int there, but then they will get pooped on because I have two rooosting bars one on each side of the coop. I'm in Chicago so there will be snow.

Can you get an old patio table and use it as a feed shelter in the run?

We keep our food and water in the run. Our run is covered with metal with a large overhang on all sides so hanging the food in the middle keeps it dry. We'd have to have extreme weather for it to get wet. I don't put water in my coop because no matter what I try our chickens knock it over causing the bedding to get soaked, which caused it to start to smell.

When the chicks were little and we kept them confined to the brooder, we did keep food and water inside for them, however as soon as they were big enough to go outside, the food and water went outside as well.
