My silkie hatched out a baby last night. Right now they are in a top nest box which is about a foot and a half of the ground. We put boards across the bottom of that nest box so mom could get out to eat but our larger chickens couldn't get in.
I know they can't stay up there much longer because the baby won't be able to get in and out. Should I move them inside my garage? Should I put them in like a car carrier in my chicken house? Would they be fine in a bottom nest box?
Should I move them tomorrow since they baby will need food and water here shortly? I am also concerned about the older, mature birds killing the baby or something?
