Where to put perches?Hurric

i was wondering where to put my purchases I forgot to install higher ones when I built the coop.hurricane just came through so sorry if the coop looks a little wet/messy.

Glad you survived the storm! I've found chickens do like to climb to the highest area, and everything underneath will get covered in poop. Since it looks like you have tight floor space, you could add a steep sloping roof to your nest box area (to allow some poop to roll off to the floor) or a flat roof (to catch the poop), and put a perch or two over the nest boxes. That'll get your girls off the floor, allow them some breeze thru the window (since you're in FL), and darken the nest boxes. Large smooth branches or 2x4s on their side make good sturdy perches. Keep them 12 inches away from the back wall... or else you'll end up with poop streaks down the wall. I learned that from experience.
