where to put the coop?

Hi all, I am getting ready to build the coop and around our place it is surrounded by very large pine trees. Will the pine needles or the occasional dripping of pitch harm the chicks in any way? Not to sure what else to do. Open to ideas and suggestions. Thanks

Under your pines sounds like a nice spot for a coop. Shaded in the summer and block some wind in the winter. I wouldn't worry about the occasional dripping of pitch.

I have friends that keep a good sized flock in the pines... longleaf, and they do fine. We need all of the shade we can get here in SC!
