Where we all wrong? Is she a he??

Well last June I got a bunch of chicks from Murray Mcmurray and included where 5 straight run Cochins, 3 "blue", and 2 SL. I posted pictures on here at around 6 wks and again at 3 months and we all agreed that they all looked like girls. Well one of the SL has had me concerned for a while. Buckbeak (my neice named it because it is so ugly and took so long to feather out) just doesn't look right at all for a SL. Oh well, I thought, we got one pretty one and one ugly one. The more I look at these last few weeks the more I am thinking. Thats a rooster. I have never seen it fight with the other Roosters, or try to mate a hen or crow but color wise and size wise and the way it stands makes me think rooster. Here are some pictures take a look and let me know what you think.

Here he is again, His eye looks weird in the pic but its not really cloudy like that.

Here is the other SL cochin we have you can see the difference in color and kind of in comb size too.

Here is Rouge the splash (blue) pullet to compare comb and wattle size.

let me know if I am right. Is buckbeak a rooster?

I think you are right. the neck feathers look very pointy and its posture does look roo-ish.

He looks like he has saddle feathers to me, so I would guess he is a "he" and not a "she"

Sometimes if there is a dominant rooster, other roosters will sort of camoflage the fact that they are also roosters. My X called them 'sissy' roosters

Last night on here I read that you can pet a roo from the head all the way down his back and he will jsut try to get away, but when you do the same thing to a hen she squats like she is going to lay an egg or something. Have you tried that?

Today I went out and tried it and it seems to be a very good way to tell.

thanks thats what I thought. And a very poor specimin of a Silver laced Cochin roo too isn't he?
Buckbeak may soon be looking for a new home.
