Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning?

I was walking into the high school when my bf ran up and grabbed me in a panic and told me what had just happened.

Chicago I can see, but Terre Haute? Although, there is a military installation in that area that has major weapons of some sort. My friend who's horse I was supposed to be working that day said if they hit that, all of us in the area would be done for.

My now-husband worked in Chicago suburbs at the time, and they were sent home. His cousin was doing construction on the Trump Towers downtown Chicago and got to take the Dan Ryan back home on the wrong side of the highway. That's how quick they were trying to evacuate downtown Chicago.

I was really young, and at my co-op when it happened. I don't remember it though. In the video when I saw the air planes crashed I was stunned. I had seen that kind of thing in movies... but to think a person would give up their life to kill many other people... so sad.

I was working as a high school librarian in Virginia and had just moved from D.C. I was watching the news as I passed by the TV in our back workroom when they were talking about the first tower being hit and then watched the second fall live. I kept popping in to watch and I remember all of the confusion on the news at first--they said a helicopter hit the Pentagon and then said there was a carbomb outside the State Department, both of which turned out not to be true. At our school, we went right on teaching since the rooms didn't have TVs with cable and I was running around updating everyone about what happened. I don't remember many parents (Or any) pulling kids.

My school was right next to the airport and not far from several bases and I remember the fighter jets scrambling that day and several times in the days immediately after. That caused a sick feeling in my stomach every time it happened.

I always loved to take my dog to the Mall in DC and we went a few weeks after 9/11. I still have pictures somewhere of the tanks and soldiers who were stationed on the mall for a while after. That was weird. It was also very disconcerting to watch planes land at National Airport (they fly right over the Mall to land). Everyone held their breath every time a plane flew over to land.

I was teaching my second year in a middle school and happened to pass by the library during my planning. A colleage snagged me and told me there was something I needed to see. Several people had been watching tv in the media room during lunch and saw the start of the news broadcast. I was in time to see the second plane hit. Thought they were watching a movie at first...

what do you remember?

I remember i was in kindergarden (home schooled)... My grandma was teaching us and turned the news on, she was bawling her eyes out, we were all glued to the tv for the next week and scared.

I mean 10 year anniversery, we killed their leader...the threats... whats gonna happen?

Our government has made some VERY thorough changes.

No need to be afraid...If ya know the Lord then just trust in him and no matter how it comes out it will be alright!
