where(when) did *lockdown* come from?

Ok, I know I have been away for a while (that's what happens when you have a baby and your dh is deployed) but when did the term *lockdown* become so important? I see it everywhere in this category now whereas I don't recall hearing it at all before. Yeah, we would talk about keeping the bator closed etc but I was wondering when that term became "popular"?
 
Oh, it's these crazy kids these days with their fancy "lingo" and lound music and stuff.....
