Unincorporated Snohomish County (where I really am) = No idea but on 7 acres that most don't know exist in the middle of the businesses along the highway, I bet I could get away with a few cows!

Seeing laws like this makes me happy I live in the country. I can have hundreds if I want. My neighbor (only have one and they are not close) loves hearing the slight crow sound that they manage to hear.

Law is we can have as many as we want , provided they are not free ranging . So , either in cages or COOP AND RUN has to be enclosed .

Our local city law prohibits chickens along with other 'barnyard' animals, however there's a loophole in which the animal control regulations don't allow for any enforcement- every animal you can think of has a list of what's controlled (leash, noise, etc.) but there's a gaping hole with chickens, so you can't be fined, cited or ANYTHING.

We have a local coalition of backyard keepers http://lawrencechickenfarmers.org/ and hopefully will change the law should it become an issue- some noise has been made since there are a ton of us and this town loves controversy. Either the city will try to close the loophole or someone will start a movement to make them legal.

Until then, we happily move on with our little cluckers!

In our county you can have as many as you like as long as they are not a health hazard or nuisance to your neighbors. Some towns might have more restrictions, but we don't live in any town. The nearest city is Omaha. I have read Omaha ordinances and they do not ban chickens, and they can be kept under the same health and nuisance restrictions. However, I am sure the HOA Nazis have restrictions in their individual covenants. I hate covenants and would never live in an area with them.

Honestly I don't care. I've never looked. I'm not going to let some overweight guy behind a desk tell me I can't keep chickens.

I'm far enough away from other houses so there isn't a smell/noise problem.

Columbiaville, Michigan...we can keep anything as long as it is maintained in the 'small livestock' category.

our neighbors love our roosters also. they say that they love hearing them in the a.m. when they are still a little raspy and then can tell when they have had their coffee!

they have had the property for four generations and they love that we actually use ours. (in fact, there goes our bantam rooster now...maybe they are smiling!)

The small town where I live lets the chickens roam the streets and the park there are many roosters. I called and was told that we could have as many as we wanted? I had a neighbor complain early on on the placement of our coop since it wasn't far from where he would like to nude sunbathe, we moved the coop and he said he wouldn't bother me anymore which he hasn't, maybe he was worried about the flies or the noise? We have 25 hens and one rooster he isn't too loud usally starting in the morning around 6 am not excessive though, no one has complained our neighbor has 2 chickens and he is thinking of getting 2 more for his younger daughter who loves our chickens.
