whered my peahen go?!!!

o.k.i got her last year around mid july.she only had wing feathers so i know she was probably just a week or so old.well she lived her whole life here,and never runned off.well just the other day she wasnt around alday. i went to a buddies forthe weekend.came back still wasnt here.

she sleeps in a tree at night,roams with big peacock male during the day and with chickens and guineas. she dissapeared 3 days ago. hasnt ben back since.

now i know shes only a year old but is it to early to rule out that she cood be on a nest somewere? i mean weirder things cood happen?

Peahens are picky....... LOL, he might not be up to her standards.....

I think at a year old she would be kind of young for going broody or laying.... typically the start at 2....... but I'm no expert.

Well yes she could be setting. Do a lot of hunting for her..she in is danger with predator around on the ground. Her eggs should be fertile with that male.


Most peahens do start laying at 2 yr old..I have seen yearling hens lay. The ones I had lay were in July.


Now alot of freeranging peahens ,do get kill when they go setting.

It is possible she is setting on a nest. Last year i had two yealings laying and one went broody and took over all 10 eggs

Here she is protecting her nest!

But she could also have just wondered off for a while. I only have two free ranging one pied male and a blackshoulder hen and it seems the hen likes to explore for a week or so and then she just shows up.
