Where'd you get your chicks?

I bought my 9 chicks from Meyer after a lot of research. They'll be here June. I will find breeders in my area next time I'm looking to add to my flock.

I got mine from Randall Burkey, advertised as Ameraucana but I knew they were EEs. The 5 of them arrived in good shape but one has crooked toes and one developed a cross beak. She just died at 11 months old. The others are all doing well. Beautiful aqua colored eggs.

My future flock are eggs in Meyer's incubators right now due to hatch May 2. I''ve spent a couple of years planning for this, building a coop deciding how many chickens I want, what I want 'em for and looking at my options in terms of where to get chicks. The only place I plan to show my chickens is in their coop to---every neighbor, friend, relative and delivery person I can drag out to there to look at 'em so "barnyard quality" is fine with me. I'm actually hoping over the next couple of years they get good and mixed up so you never know what is going to hatch out of any given egg. I'm getting three that are "that breed"

including my rooster. I figure they themselves don't care whether people call 'em Ameraucana, Easter Eggers or Bald Eagles. They are still going to be chickens and spend their time doing your basic chicken stuff. Which might or might not include laying an egg of a different color. The other 15 probably aren't going to notice what they are called either.

Heard good things about Meyer, they had the variety I wanted, would let me order as many order as few as I choose, and so far my in dealings with them their service has been excellent. And I like their Meal Maker Program where they'll give you a free chicken and you agree to donate the eggs (or meat if you order meat birds) to people in need. That's how my planned 16 hens went to 17

I get my chicks from TSC, also Atwoods (kinda like TSC) and Ideal hatchery (<really like this hatchery because you can make small orders, and if you live in TX you get free shipping, also I like a hatchery that is in the same state as me so the little fuzz butts are dont have far to travel) I got some EE at atwoods last month..

I get mine from Cackle Hatchery. Their office is just 7 blocks from my house and they have a storefront for local buyers. I can buy as many or as few as I want. Some places call Easter Eggers Ameracaunas (with a var. of spellings) so if you decide to order online, try to search by that name. Ameracaunas are actually their own breed, and EE's are a mix.

We purchased one at our local feed store two years ago and this year we purchased two from Ideal Poultry.

We got most of our chicks from a private breeder and a few from a friend who ordered a couple of different breeds from a hatchery. Love them all!!!!

I got mine from a local feed store. There was one EE pullet and an EE rooster in my original 8 chicks. Then one of my other hens went broody and hatched a solo chick - my very first GrandChick, the product of the EE rooster and EE hen. (It wasn't the BO's egg that hatched, but one of five eggs, one from each laying hen at the time.)

Then I started buying hatching eggs and incubating them myself. However, another hen went broody and hatched four chicks, two of which were EE/Delaware crosses. They each have the puffy cheeks and lay green eggs.

I continue to buy hatching eggs and incubate them. Occasionally I buy a chick or three from the feed store... depending on what hatches from the eggs I buy.
