Where's Florida Man aka Brooks_

It does seem weird to me unless it's for the kids table :confused:
@Brooks_

That really surprises me coming from Mizzou. I was just watching a thing on tv where they were ranking Thanksgiving dishes and Mac and cheese was ranked in the top 5 by everyone. And, some of these were even yanks that were doing the ranking.

We are not talking a box of Kraft instant here, but homemade baked Mac and Cheese. People put their own spin on it of course with what exact ingredients they use. Sometimes I make it with as much as 7 different cheeses. It is usually the dish I spend the most money on.

The real question here is why would you find that weird?
Because @Brooks_ traditional Thanksgiving food is food found native to North America. Turkey. Corn. Squash. I didn't realize Italian pasta was from North America.

But y'all put marshmallows in your sweet potatoes too, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

So, you think @Brooks_ turkey was a traditional dish? I’m pretty that it wasn’t at all.

I don’t know know about marshmallows in sweet potatoes. I guess this is very unsouthern of me, but I don’t care for them and never make them

I agree the homemade one is just different and a classic 😋👌 @Brooks_

And, that is not saying turkey is not native to North America @Brooks_ but I think it is a myth that it was what the pilgrims and native Americans had at the first Thanksgiving @Brooks_

Well probably cause we do eat the traditional meal but the US is made up of folks from all over the world so family's put their own little spin on the meals. @Brooks_

squash is not something you will always see at our Thanksgiving or Christmas throw downs @Brooks_
you might see a squash casserole but not likely

Agree to the statement on cheeses. I use at least six cheeses, one of which is always cream cheese. It never lasts long in this household and is made often.
