Whey Protein for chickens?

Boosting the hen's protein intake a little bit isn't a bad thing while they're molting. They likely won't lay any better, but it will help them grow out their new suits somewhat faster.

But don't go crazy with the supplements. They can't handle big protein percentages so you'd just be throwing it away.

If you're feeding ordinary 15-16% protein layer feed then bump it up two to three points. Simply feeding them some boiled egg once a day would do the trick. No more than what they can clean up in a few minutes. Don't bother to peel them. Just chop them up shell and all.

I just found this and was wondering the same thing. I have two large containers of whey protein that I bought for myself, but I no longer eat it on the program I'm on. Mine is sweetened with Stevia, which should be fine for the chickens (fine for us!). I'm thinking I'm going to try it and see.

I know it has been a few years on this topic... So, I have whey left over from making cheese. Do I offer it in a smaller watering can for them or add it diluted in their water? Or, just let the dog have it. He seems to enjoy it.
