I always hear the best layers are these. Idk if this is the same thing but im looking for most efficient layers. The ones that produce eggs with as little feed as possible. I dont care if they dont lay everyday. We have quite a bit of space with lots of weeds, bugs, compost, eggshells, oyster shells, a pond where i catch and feed them fish and Im trying to see if its possible to get them to lay eggs with more free ranging and things i already have around the yard. Ive had chickens before and i really enjoyed them but the amount of feed they went through was just killer.

If there are other chickens that are not in the title, id love to hear about them! I know there are other vigorous layers but ive heard the feed to egg ratio isnt nearly as good even if they lay everyday
