I am getting some chickens and I don't know which one lays more eggs.

RIR would be a more prolific layer by breed standard I would think. Americauna's are great chickens. But both are good layers. And factor in the individual hen as to production of eggs because that has something to do with overall numbers. Either is a good bet for egg production but I would lean toward the RIR if it is a strictly numbers game with ya.

Wish you the best eggs ever.

Thank you. Now would you say Americaucanas lay more eggs than Barred Rocks?

Well, I would give the nod to Barred Rocks. I have two currently and have had many great laying Barred Rocks. Even the winter doesn't seem to slow them down. My family have Americauna's and the do lay well. I still give the nod to a BR and RIR over an Americauna. You should consider that this opinion is limited to the chickens that I have owned.
