Which breed do you think is the friendliest? My vote goes for BR's!

Our first flock, that we only got to keep til just before they started laying, the friendliest was an Ameracauna and a Black Australorp. We had BSL, Ameracauna, BA, and game mix. Also had two polish, which were flighty and not very smart, not at all. No matter what I could not tame them. Now we have BO, RIR, PR and cochins. Friendliest by far: RIR hen.

MY BR Lilith is the best! She follows me around and loves to be held and cuddled. The other 2 BRs Evie and Ruth are friendly, too. My BOs Heather, Aggie and Fannie are friendly and allow me to pick them up. My EEs are curious and friendly but dislike being held, except for my EE roo that gets carried around and sems to enjoy it. My australorps are friendly when you have food but were a late addition so are finally coming around- they used to be scared of me. My SLW is brain-damaged. Couldn't find a cheerio in my outstretched palm if her life depended on it.

My best chicken growing up was a BR and I think the breed tends towards being very friendly and people oriented. However, just like any animal it is all dependent how they were raised.

I would agree that the Plymouth Rocks as a breed top the list of friendly good old chicken. MM is know for having a mean line of them. My Partridge Rocks are very nice and always under foot. Even my roo is good and he is not all the loud either. I have delt with other breeds of chickens over the years but the Plymouth Rocks are some of the nicest when it comes to breed overall. Our free range and are all over the place looking for food.

Dora, the pullet, and , Lucy the roo, are just the sweetest chicks ever. They run up to me and I carry Lucy around. Lucy is my morning news partner.

Easter Eggers are definitely next. They're quite sweet too, but they are more interested in the food than your hand...

My rhode island red girls are all the friendliest. Even raised differently, from different hatcheries, different breeders, etc etc. They are all pretty friendly. Busy busy busy but friendly.

My cochins are pretty friendly as well, in a more mellow kind of way.
