I've seen some game hens with spurs and I've seen even a golden comet hen with spurs. I know all hens can have spurs. I'm wanting to get a hen which breed would be more likely to have them. Any info/thoughts would be very appreciated.

depends on how you want to define a breed...here is what I mean by that...

games go by several different names and most are really lines not breeds but if you go around asking for hens that are: Kelso, round heads, shufflers, hatches, and such names you are very likely to get spurred hens

American games (bantam and standard) will often have them as will: shamo, malay, and such...seen a few on OEGBs and moderns

I can't keep a rooster, so I want a hen that can defend herself if she has to.

Well you don't need a hen with spurs for that - I have a Polish hen with spurs and she never uses them.

My hens that defend themselves are usually Brahmas. . . Sassiest girls I've ever met.

I was wondering that too, I heard from an old man to get some game hens with spurs after there was a hawk that attacked my EE. Brahmas look like they are full of sassyness lol. I will look into them.

I've seen a Shamo hen vs. a Brahma hen. . . Wow can Brahmas put up a fight. There's nothing that can defend itself or even its babies like an Oriental Gamefowl though.

They also make GREAT moms.

Wow, really? I've heard Brahmas were really docile, (which was also what I heard about Langshans, and my Langshans were CRAZY lol. I've never had Brahmas.)

Classic Jungle Fowl / OEG are supposed to be really greats moms too! I know Sumatras are. Mine tried to attack a German Shepherd once. Through a screen. Defending her babies.
Wilder chickens--they know how to stay alive.

Well, you could always try hostas. Really big hostas. One hen screams Hawk and they all just melt away into the plants until it's gone... if you want to be really safe.
